Becoming a Member
The Pioneer Unit is one of the many local units of The Herb Society of America.
In order to become a member of the Pioneer Unit one must:
- attend three general meetings as a guest within a year’s time frame
- perform three garden volunteer hours at one of the Unit’s sponsored gardens
- submit a membership application to the membership chairman when these criteria are met and await approval by the Unit board
- pay the national membership dues for The Herb Society of America, the local unit dues, and a membership badge fee
In order to maintain membership a member must:
- attend at least three general unit meetings a year
- participate in the preparation of the Unit’s major fundraiser – the Herbal Forum
- participate on-site at the Unit’s major fundraiser – the Herbal Forum
- be willing to hold office or serve on committees
- perform at least 20 volunteer hours per year
- pay the national membership dues for The Herb Society of America and the local unit dues on a yearly basis
