Lemon Rosemary Cookies

2 cups flour                                                      1 cup sugar

1-1/2 tsp. baking powder                                    1 tsp. lemon juice

2 tsp. lemon zest                                             1-1/2 tsp. vanilla

1 cup butter (2 sticks)                                    4 Tbl. fresh rosemary

1 egg                                                               1 Tbl. fresh lemon balm or

                                                                  lemon verbena

Mix first 3 ingredients in a large bowl, set aside.  Cream butter, egg, and sugar; add flour mixture and mix well.  Add lemon juice, vanilla, rosemary and herbs, mix well.  Divide dough into 2 rolls; wrap in waxed paper and chill (or freeze).  Slice into ¼ inch slices.  Bake at 350 degrees until slightly browned, about 10 minutes.
